BYD, our partner in battery storage, have been named as finalists in the Electrical Energy Storage (EES) Award for two of its energy storage systems, which is the first time in the award history that two products jointly shortlisted from one company.
The EES Award, which began in 2014, recognises innovation in stationary and mobile electrical energy storage systems.
The year's shortlisted includes companies from Germany, Italy, Estonia, Israel, China and South Korea. BYD is the only Chinese firm represented this year.
BYD's B-Box and 1.2MW/1.2MWh containerised engery storage systems will be evaluated based on their technological innovation, technical and environmental benefits, system integration, safety, economic benefits, proof of innovation and presentation.
The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges from Germany's science and technological research bodies and trade media.
The award ceremony will take place 31 May in Munich on the first day of the EES and Intersolar Europe Trade Show, the largest of exhibition of solar energy, energy storage systems and batteries in Europe.
BYD's newly expanded lineup of B-Box battery and energy storage systems has been available in Australia and Europe since early 2017 for commercial and residential use. Twenty units of the 1.2MW/1.2MWh Containerised EES has been delivered to various sites around the UK. The 40 foot container energy storage system is designed to accommodate commercial and utility power needs.
