Energy Savings Scheme

Save on business lighting costs with Solar Australia

Lighting costs can be a significant factor in many businesses’ operating expenses. Many Australian businesses are suffering under the economic burden of old and inefficient lighting technology. To combat this and help you update your lighting, Solar Australia offers a commercial lighting retrofit solution. We assess your site’s existing lighting infrastructure and replace your energy-intensive lighting with new, energy-efficient lighting solutions, saving you on your lighting energy costs and in most cases, improving the aesthetic appeal of your premises with the latest in energy-efficient lighting technology.

What we do for you

Solar Australia’s qualified Lighting Designers will develop a business proposal which details the existing lighting infrastructure and will outline the most appropriate replacement lighting technology, achieving required efficiency, luminosity and illuminance levels, all with relatively short payback periods. We will replace the existing light fixtures with a fully-customised lighting solution to suit your individual business needs and to reduce your lighting costs. We make the whole process as easy as possible and offer the full service; all the way through from initial appraisal to project delivery and recycling of your old light fittings. A Solar Australia Commercial Lighting Retrofit will save you on energy costs, reduce your lighting maintenance costs as the lighting will be updated to the latest products and will bring your site up to Lighting Safety Standards compliance levels.

In addition to this, Solar Australia is a registered Accredited Certificate Provider with the Energy Savings Scheme, which allows us to create certificates for your lighting retrofit which can be traded for a financial benefit and help you save even more.

The Energy Savings Scheme (ESS)

The Energy Savings Scheme, known as the ESS, was established by the NSW government in 2009, with the purpose of providing the community and businesses with a financial incentive to reduce their electricity consumption, by undertaking energy efficiency initiatives. This financial incentive is in addition to the associated lower electricity bills that result from these initiatives and is measured in units called Energy Saving Certificates (known as ESCs). An ESC is equal to one tonne of carbon dioxide (CO2) being equivalent to 1.06 Megawatt (MWh) of energy. In terms of Environmental benefits, this means that for each ESC that is generated from an initiative or activity performed under the ESS, one tonne of CO2 each year is no longer being generated from that source.

Solar Australia is an Accredited Certificate Provider (ACP) under the ESS. This means that you have the option of nominating Solar Australia to calculate, create and register ESCs generated from your lighting retrofit. In this case, Solar Australia can provide a discount for these ESCs which will go towards subsidising your lighting retrofit and thus will shorten the payback period of your investment.
